Lucky for me, this cake was judged on taste and not appearances. While it looks a little shabby it has a delicious blackberry filling hence the purple tint to the cream cheese frosting. The truth is it took me hours, yes hours, to bake this cake and it did not happen at all until a day after Daddy's birthday! Little Edie is a lot of things, but helpful in the kitchen is not one of them. Daddy said Edie Jane was a pretty good birthday present!
